Caring for powder-coated aluminum

Powder-coated aluminum needs very little upkeep. A simple routine twice a year keeps the finish looking new.

Aluminum does not rot, warp or need painting, and a powder-coated finish protects it from fading and corrosion. It still collects dust, pollen and bird droppings, so a regular rinse goes a long way.

A twice-a-year routine

Rinse the frame and roof with a garden hose to remove loose dirt.
Wash with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft cloth or brush.
Rinse again and let it air dry.
Clear leaves from gutters and downspouts, especially in the fall.

What to avoid

Skip pressure washers at close range, abrasive pads, and cleaners that contain solvents, bleach or ammonia. They can dull or damage the finish.
